A HOUSE NEAR PARIS. THREADS, STORIES, A SOUL.

Caroline Touboul Nataf — Neuilly-sur-Seine, France

By: Anastasiia GLUKHAREVA

Montreal. Tokyo. Bangkok. Paris. Some people travel to escape. Caroline travelled to learn how to come home.

Tokyo revealed to her the beauty of minimalism. Bangkok, the warmth of materials. Montreal, the art of creating softness when it's cold outside. It's precisely this blend that makes her home unique — you want to pause on every detail.

After years at Chanel and the creation of Caromy & Co, she has made the art of hosting second nature. At her place, you feel it from the very first step. Not because everything is perfect. But because everything is real.

Caroline, who are you?

JI'm a mother of three — Romy, Elli and Raphaël. Born in Montreal, passed through Tokyo and Bangkok, arrived in Paris at 15. Luxury marketing led me to Chanel. And then I dropped everything to create Caromy & Co. What started as a children's events agency became something bigger.

Today I've created La Maison Caromy — more intimate, more personal events. We're in Neuilly-sur-Seine. And we entertain a lot.

How would you describe the atmosphere of your home ?

Serene. Luminous. Soft.

Living in Neuilly feels like being in the countryside while still being in Paris. I wanted that to show in every room — beige tones, noble materials, light that enters softly. Since I work from home, I need to feel truly well here. The setting, the scents, the music — everything matters.

Hosting is your signature. Is it also your way of living ?

Yes. But at home, it's more intimate than at work. I love when people walk in and feel welcomed — by the objects, the textures, the atmosphere. A beautiful rug, beautiful cushions, a beautiful table — it's a language. The one I speak best.

Why SAUDADE ?

It's authenticity. It's story.

If there's no story behind an object, it doesn't hook me. I need there to be a human element, a real project, hands that knew what they were doing.

The recycled cotton, the Portuguese artisans, each piece thoughtfully designed and nestled in — all of that speaks to me deeply. And then there's something rare about SAUDADE: the ability to create exactly what you need.

Almost all my pieces were made to measure — the rugs, the cushions. The dimensions, the colours, everything was thought out for this apartment, for this light, for each precise space. These aren't just beautiful products. They are my products. And that changes everything.

What's inspiring you right now ?

People. Cultures. Humanity.

We just returned from South Africa — 14 days, the landscapes, the meeting of the Atlantic and Indian oceans, and above all a people so emotionally rich. I came home in tears, and full of ideas.

People always inspire me most. And particularly those who create with their hands. An object made by hand carries the trace of whoever made it — you can't fake that. It's exactly what I find at SAUDADE.

Your definition of Saudade ?

Positive nostalgia.

Everything that reminds me of my childhood and shaped who I am today. That diversity — Montréal, Tokyo, Bangkok — taught me to adapt, to read people, to feel at home anywhere. It's a richness I try to pass on to my children. It's not just about school. It's about knowing how to adapt to people, to places, to roots.

Saudade stirs all of that in me. It's my past speaking. And still building me.
